Seema Srinivasan
Overview
Seema Srinivasan's legal career initially centered around complex commercial litigation including securities fraud, trustee liability, product liability and copyright infringement. Seema also served as a law clerk for the Justices of the Superior Court of Massachusetts. She utilizes this background in electric and natural gas regulation, federal and state administrative litigation and appellate advocacy on energy issues.
Seema engages in a wide range of energy industry, regulatory and legislative analysis matters. She monitors, reports on and advocates commercial and regulatory interests on behalf of our energy clients. Resource adequacy, greenhouse gas policy and regulations and natural gas regulatory matters are currently her primary areas of focus. Before her legal studies, Seema began a career in molecular and cellular biology. She worked as a post-graduate researcher, and conducted a wide range of biological assays related to immunodeficiency virus vaccines.
Experience
- Advocates before the California Public Utilities Commission, California Air Resources Board and California Energy Commission to guide the State's greenhouse gas policy in a manner that will ensure reliability of energy supply and promote greenhouse gas reductions in a cost-effective manner. This effort includes consideration of GHG in the power plant siting process and advocacy in a detailed modeling effort designed to evaluate relative costs of different emission reduction measures.
- Represents clients before the CPUC to ensure proposed infrastructure and operational changes in natural gas systems do not impose undue costs on natural gas consumers, producers, and marketers.
- Engages in CPUC and CAISO efforts to develop a standard capacity product that can be used to promote electricity supply reliability and one that does not exclude existing resources from contributing to this goal.
- Advocates before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in rulemakings that have implications for California electricity markets, particularly wholesale energy sales and promotion of competition.
- Promotes CHP in California's energy policy before the CPUC, ARB and other regulators.
- Monitors California natural gas activities to highlight concerns and impacts for clients.
